Parent Group to Host IEP Discussion

The Parent Networking Group (PNG), an active group of concerned parents of special education children in the North Allegheny School District, will hold their annual Spring Coffee on April 15th from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The theme of the program” How To Make The Most of Your Child’s IEP”, will be held at the Baierl Center located on the grounds of the North Allegheny High School near the football stadium. Topics to be discussed are “ How to be an Effective Advocate For Your Child” by Diane Hartman, an Education Consultant from the Total Learning Center; “Parent Involvement in the IEP Process” by Maureen Lengel, an Inclusion Facilitator for the North Allegheny School District; and Attorney Donna Gardner on Procedural Safeguards. “This is a great opportunity for parents of special needs children to share tips and gain valuable knowledge that will be helpful at their next IEP meeting” stated PNG President Jackie Klinvex. The event is open to parents from outside the district as well.
