The Hampton Township School District board of directors is still working on making the Fridley Field bleachers available for use at graduation, director Bob Shages said.

Board members are waiting for the official word from Gateway Engineers, who recently did an in-depth inspection of the bleachers and its support system.

"We're working toward making sure they're available for graduation," Shages said.

School officials noticed in late fall that the ground holding up the center part of the grandstand had eroded away due to water runoff from the press box. The two side grandstands have no erosion issues.

Officials are planning on repairing the pillars and runoff problem, which could be $500,000 less than replacing the whole grandstand.

Graduation at Fridley Field is planned for June 8.
