Laughlin

Thomas Charles Laughlin Jr. has received an appointment to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. The appointment is the equivalent of a four-year scholarship. Laughlin, son of Tom and Betty Laughlin of Wexford, is a graduate of Sewickley Academy, where he played lacrosse. He has been recruited to play for the Air Force Academy Falcons. Upon graduation from the academy, Laughlin will be commissioned as a second lieutenant.

Waldschmidt

William C Waldschmidt III has graduated from Navy boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Center. Waldschmidt, son of Jean and Bill Waldschmidt of Bradford Woods, has also graduated from the Interior Communications Technical School at the base. He will continue his duty in the Navy at Norfolk, Va. He is a 2003 graduate of North Allegheny High School.

Thiess

Alexander C. Thiess has received an Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) scholarship to attend an elected college or university. The cadet was selected to receive the scholarship certificate based on comprehensive tests, high school scholastic achievement and extra-curricular activities. Upon graduation from college and completion of the ROTC program, the cadet will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. Thiess, son of Kenneth C. and Brooke C. Thiess of Pittsburgh, is a 2005 graduate of North Allegheny Senior High School.

Ulintz

Thomas J. Ulintz graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. Ulintz, son of Keith M. and Dianne M. Ulintz of Pittsburgh, is a 2000 graduate of North Hills High School and is currently attending the University of Pittsburgh.
