Anthony J. "Pap" Fischer, 74,
Gibsonia native, great grandfather
Anthony J. "Pap" Fischer, 74, of Cranberry Township died on Dec. 28 at UPMC Passavant Cranberry.
Fischer was a heavy equipment operator and a 45-year member of Operating Engineers Local 66.
He served in the National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 474 in Zelienople.
Fischer was also a 50-year life member of Harmony Moose Lodge 957, a social member of Evans City VFW Post 499 and a member of the National Pike, Steam Gas & Horse Association Inc.
He was also a member of St. Matthias Catholic Church in Evans City.
Fischer is survived by his wife, Lillian A. Fischer; seven children, Ralph A. Fischer of Evans City; Loretta A. Hayday of Humble, Texas; Mary Polochak of Portersville; Betty Rose Fischer of Zelienople; Bertha Mae "Bert" Barkley of Zelienople; Joann Marie Rader of Zelienople; and Rosemary A. "Kid" Poole of Cranberry Township.
He is also survived by a sister, Caroline Kolesar of Midland; a brother, George Fischer of Butler; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer Yancy, Wendy, Michelle and Jeffrey Polochak, Tony and Michael Fischer, Justin, Jacqueline and Joshua Rader; Heather and Tyler Poole, Maria, Patrick and Eric Hayday; and five great grandchildren, Dominic Polochak, Alex, Samantha and Austin Fischer and Aidan Yancy.
Fischer was preceded in death by a brother, Richard C. Fischer.
Friends were received at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home in Cranberry Township.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Alphonsus Church in Wexford.
Entombment will be in Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.
