Rams off to perfect start
The Pine-Richland tennis team is off to another solid start, having yet to lose a match. With senior Casey Watt leading the way as the No. 1, the Rams have been cruising.
"We have very solid singles players and experienced doubles teams," said Janet Chappell, Pine-Richland tennis coach. "I think that has a lot to do with it so far."
Casey Watt has been dominant once again, and Bryan Watt has been really great as well, Chappell said. At the No. 3 spot Vas Van Lant and Mike Matthews have contributed.
Their undefeated streak will be tested, and the Rams will play North Allegheny again, Fox Chapel and Shady Side Academy and Upper St. Clair in the coming days.
To get the team in top form, Chappell said that Casey Watt has been working with the other guys.
"He has been challenging them to bring their game up to another level," Chappell said. "He is trying to get everyone up to where they need to be."
To keep plugging away, Chappell added that the team has to continue to work hard and she would like to continue to develop the skills of all her players so the lineup will be well rounded as the season progresses.
"We'll keep working and hope for a good finish in the WPIAL," Chappell said.
