Sullivan scores big for Pine-Richland

The fast-paced action is what drew Pine-Richland's Terrance Sullivan to the game of lacrosse around the time he was in sixth grade. However, it is the excitement of playing one of the fastest growing sports in the area that keeps the senior attacker racking up goals for the Rams.

"I played midfield before, but I am better on offense," Sullivan said. "I like scoring and finding the open spots on the field."

Sullivan has good vision on the field and he hopes to help the Rams get into the playoffs this year.

"The last two years we missed the playoffs," Sullivan said. "We have to win two of our final three division games to make it."

Sullivan added that he would like to earn some All American or All League Honors, but mainly wants to give this team a chance to play for a championship.

Sullivan helps lead the team by trying to instill confidence in his teammates, and the belief that they can accomplish anything.

"I try to help the younger players calm their nerves," Sullivan said. "It's a lot about belief and confidence and practicing extra on stick work."

To get ready to take on the competition, Sullivan likes to keep to himself and listen to some music, as he goes over the game plan in his head.

The most difficult things according to Sullivan are the amount of running and the stick-work techniques that are needed to be successful.

"Running and catching the ball are the toughest things, because they are different than any other sport," Sullivan said. "It takes time to get used to it."

When the season concludes, Sullivan hopes to be remembered as one of the seniors who helped take this team to the playoffs for the first time.

Next year, Sullivan will attend Belmont Abbey, in Charlotte N.C., a Division II school, and play lacrosse.

"I signed my letter of intent, and I plan to study business," Sullivan said.

Sullivan and the Rams will host North Allegheny on May 14, 8 p.m.
